Baby Hummingbirds

Well I finally got close enough yesterday. There was actually two baby hummingbirds in the nest. They were being very adventurous and seemingly standing up on the edge of the nest and testing out the wings. The parents were very active yesterday as well. Hovering, swarming, and doing everything possible to protect the nest. We actually had a waaaay cool moment the other day when Marc and I were out on the patio having lunch. The green hummingbird was buzzing around overhead sat and looked at Marc, and then sat down on the armrail of his chair for a couple of seconds. Both of us just stared with our mouths open in amazement.

Update: the wings must of worked for one of them and not the other. Today the nest is empty. One hummingbird did not make it and was found below. For the other, there is no sign. Mom and Dad are also gone. Good luck with your family and thanks for making our backyard come alive.
